Residents' forums in Barnet next week

Barnet council governance and democracy department advertises the residents' forums for this month (all next week). They promise:
Have your say on council plans and local proposals. It’s your meeting [sic]. You can put questions, debate issues [unless it's about councillors allowances and you live in Chipping Barnet] and set the agenda.

If you tell us in advance of issues you want to raise we are more likely to have an answer for you on the evening.

Sadly Vicki, you can ask questions but the interesting ones rarely get answered. The trick they use is to say "answer to follow" which of course they rarely do.

If they can't answer there and then you must ask for a written answer to be sent to you: I did, and it was. It is vitally important that people attend these forums: they would love it if no one turned up.

Perhaps someone could ask why Lynne Hillan told the Barnet Press this week that councillors hadn't had a rise in their basic allowance for four years - a demonstrable lie.
